STURBRIDGE, Mass. (Oct. 12, 2023) — A pregnant woman died after crashing an SUV into a hotel and later shooting a guest in Sturbridge early Thursday morning.
According to authorities, the incident occurred as the woman was reportedly searching for two individuals she knew. Police were called to the hotel shortly after 2 a.m. following reports of gunfire.
Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. stated that the suspect's vehicle caused significant damage upon impact. An unidentified male guest was found outside the hotel with a critical gunshot wound; he was initially taken to Harrington Hospital and subsequently airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
Witnesses reported that the woman exited her SUV shouting, “Where are you?” before discharging her firearm multiple times. Early confirmed that the victim was not the intended target of the shooting.
The victim is currently listed in critical but stable condition. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding both the crash and the shooting, and no further details have been disclosed as the investigation proceeds.
