Kokomo driver dies in single-car crash near Sharpsville.

SHARPSVILLE, Ind. (WRTV) — A 51-year-old Kokomo man died Thursday afternoon in a crash on County Road 800 West, according to the Tipton County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities reported that Michael Adams was traveling southbound when his 2014 Cruze left the roadway and collided with a tree. The incident occurred approximately 5 miles east-northeast of Sharpsville.

Adams was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and the vehicle's airbags did not deploy. 911 callers reported that the was locked and the driver was unresponsive.

Emergency responders, including deputies and medical personnel, were able to gain access but found Adams deceased at the scene. The cause of death has not been determined, and the Tipton County Coroner's Office is investigating.

Tipton County, with a population of around 15,300, is located approximately one hour north of downtown Indianapolis.
