Kate Beckinsale Cast in New Shark Survival Film “White”
LOS ANGELES, CA – December 5, 2023 – Kate Beckinsale has joined the cast of “White,” a shark survival film directed by Jake West.
The film follows a struggling actress traveling for a photoshoot when her private jet crashes into the Pacific Ocean. Stranded in the water, her only lifeline is a satellite phone salvaged from the wreck. Authorities confirmed that when she attempts to call for help, her studio boss, played by Beckinsale, dismisses her emergency, leaving a marine biologist to deliver troubling news.
Alongside Beckinsale, Katherine McNamara, known for her role in “Shadowhunters,” is set to star. Beckinsale will also serve as an executive producer. The film is produced by Yariv Lerner, Dominic Burns, Crawford Anderson-Dillon, and Sky Morfopoulos, with Highland Film Group managing worldwide sales.
“White” has been described as an intense adventure, featuring themes of survival and the peril of great white sharks in the infamous White Shark Café. Arianne Fraser, CEO of Highland Film Group, emphasized the film's tension and emotional depth.
This project comes amid a resurgence of shark-themed films, including Netflix's “Thrash,” which places characters in a Category 5 hurricane where sharks pose a direct threat. The ongoing interest in the genre reflects a cultural fascination with shark narratives.
Further details about the film's release date are pending as production develops.
