PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — A jury awarded $56 million to a Massachusetts man following a 2024 crash involving an Amazon delivery van.

According to court records, the Amazon driver fell asleep at the wheel, crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding with a vehicle driven by Malcolm Carnwath.

Authorities reported that Carnwath sustained severe injuries, including a below-the-knee amputation, brain injury, organ damage, and multiple fractures.

Medical records indicate that he has incurred nearly $6 million in medical expenses and will require extensive ongoing care.
