SPRINGFIELD — A multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 95 resulted in two fatalities and multiple injuries on October 5, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 2:15 p.m. near mile marker 87, involving three cars and one truck. Emergency responders pronounced two individuals dead at the scene, while four others were transported to Springfield General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to officials, the northbound lanes of I-95 were closed for over two hours during the investigation and cleanup. The road has since reopened.
The Springfield Police Department is currently investigating the incident. No charges have been filed at this time.
