PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — A vehicle collision resulted in a fatality after a collided with a parked tractor-trailer and subsequently ignited at an Interstate 66 rest area Saturday afternoon.

Virginia State Police reported that the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. at the eastbound rest area located at the 49-mile marker on I-66, approximately two miles from the Prince William Parkway exit.

Authorities stated that a Toyota sedan struck the rear of a legally parked tractor-trailer, igniting a fire following the impact.

The driver of the sedan was at the scene, while the tractor-trailer driver, who was resting in the cab during the incident, remained unharmed.

The Virginia State Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
