Minneapolis Man, 44, Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Scott County
A 44-year-old man from Minneapolis was killed on Monday after being hit by a car while conducting survey work on Texas Avenue in New Market Township.
Authorities responded to the scene at approximately noon. According to Scott County officials, a 58-year-old man from Lonsdale was driving a northbound Chevrolet Equinox when he struck the pedestrian.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials reported that the driver of the Chevrolet was unharmed, and initial investigations indicate that drugs or alcohol were not factors in the incident.
“This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the victim's family and loved ones,” said Sheriff Luke Hennen. He emphasized the importance of driver vigilance to prevent such tragedies involving pedestrians and cyclists.
The identity of the deceased will be disclosed by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
