Brooklyn Park Crash Claims One Life, Injures Another

One person was killed and another injured in a crash in Brooklyn Park on Saturday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Chevy Impala was traveling north on Highway 252 around 7:24 a.m. when it struck a traffic signal at Humboldt Avenue. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire.

Brooklyn Park police reported that other motorists assisted in removing passengers from the burning . The passenger, identified as 36-year-old Carlos Chavez Holliday, was at the scene. The 39-year-old driver was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A section of Highway 252 was closed for several hours between Eighth Avenue and Brookdale Drive while authorities conducted an investigation.
