Fatal Pedestrian Crash on I-70 Under Investigation
COLUMBIA, MO — The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly pedestrian accident that occurred on Interstate 70 on Tuesday.
The incident took place at the 137-mile marker at approximately 9:31 p.m. A 44-year-old male pedestrian from Columbia was struck by a 2014 Peterbilt 389 driven by a 51-year-old male driver. According to the crash report, the pedestrian was walking in the left lane when the collision occurred.
First responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The Boone/Callaway County Coroner's Office confirmed the time of death.
As of now, authorities have not released the names of either the driver or the pedestrian involved in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details regarding lane closures or tows have been provided.
Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
