ST. GEORGE, Utah (TNND) — Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested following a 33-hour manhunt for the alleged assassination of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10.

According to police footage obtained by The National News Desk, Robinson was involved in a crash earlier that day and spoke with officers from the St. George Police Department regarding the incident. He described how he t-boned another vehicle and appeared cooperative with authorities.

Witnesses reported Robinson joking about adding oil to his vehicle just before the crash, displaying an unexpectedly calm demeanor. However, family members described him as someone influenced by radical online communities.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox stated that Robinson's loved ones cooperated with the investigation, revealing that he had suggested he was the shooter. Robinson's father identified him from FBI photos released during the search for the suspect.

Investigators also learned from Robinson's roommate that he had been communicating on the chatting app Discord about firearms, specifically mentioning a rifle and engraved bullets.

Robinson faces numerous charges, including aggravated murder and felony discharge of a firearm. Prosecutors announced plans to seek the death penalty.
