NTSB Investigates Fatal Tennessee School Bus Crash as Clarksville Students Resume Classes.

CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — Federal investigators are probing the cause of a school crash in Carroll County that resulted in two fatalities on Friday, March 27, 2026.

The incident occurred while a from the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System was transporting students and staff on a field trip. Two students from Kenwood Middle School lost their lives, while at least seven others sustained injuries. The bus driver was also injured.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the investigation will be conducted alongside the Tennessee Highway Patrol, focusing on driver performance, passenger protection, and school transportation oversight.

As students returned to classes on Monday, Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools Director Dr. Jean Luna-Vedder encouraged students and staff to wear black and gold to honor the victims and support the community.
