DETROIT (WKRC) — Ford Motor Co. is recalling nearly 420,000 vehicles in the United States due to a seat belt defect, affecting models from 2018 to 2022.
The recall includes 419,967 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the seat belt pretensioner in the driver or front passenger seat may lock unexpectedly, preventing proper retraction or extension.
This malfunction poses an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash, as it may prevent the seat belt from restraining occupants effectively.
Authorities confirmed that owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by Ford. Further information regarding repair procedures has not yet been made available.
