Milk Truck Accident Claims Life in Argyle
TOWN OF ARGYLE, Wis. — A driver died after his milk truck veered off State Highway 81 and fell into an abandoned quarry early Thursday morning, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office.
Jaykub E. Anderson, 32, of Mineral Point, was traveling west on STH 81 around 5:30 a.m. when his 2012 Peterbilt quad axle milk truck exited the roadway on the north side. The vehicle traveled through a ditch before plummeting into a quarry in the 5000 block of the highway, Sheriff Reg Gill reported.
Upon impact, the milk tank sheered off as the truck overturned at the quarry floor. Anderson was the only occupant of the vehicle, and the Lafayette County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene.
Emergency services received the crash report at 11:56 a.m. and responded, including Lafayette County Sheriff's deputies, Argyle Fire Department, and Argyle EMS. State Highway 81 was reduced to single-lane traffic for several hours for the investigation and recovery efforts.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Lafayette County Highway Department assisted at the scene. An investigation is ongoing.
