DETROIT (WKRC) — Ford Motor Co. is recalling nearly 420,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a seat belt defect.
The recall affects 419,967 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models from 2018 to 2022. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the defect in the seat belt pretensioner may inadvertently cause the belt to lock, impairing its ability to retract or extend properly.
This malfunction could prevent the seat belt from adequately restraining occupants during a crash, thereby increasing the risk of injury. Authorities confirmed the recall details through information released on Wednesday.
Owners of the affected vehicles will receive notifications from Ford. Further information regarding repair procedures has not yet been made available.
