Serious Crash on I-293 South in Manchester Leaves Driver Injured
MANCHESTER, NH – A Salem man sustained serious injuries in a rollover accident just before 5 p.m. on Saturday on Interstate 293 south near Exit 2, according to New Hampshire State Police.
Preliminary investigations revealed that 44-year-old Michael Meucci was distracted by an unrestrained dog in his Volvo XC-90. He lost control while exiting the F.E. Everett Turnpike onto I-293 south, causing the vehicle to roll over multiple times before coming to rest on its roof.
Meucci was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV through the sunroof. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment; however, no updates on his condition have been provided. Authorities did not confirm whether the dog was injured.
Traffic was reduced to one lane for approximately 45 minutes while the scene was investigated and cleared. New Hampshire State Police were assisted by firefighters from Bedford and Manchester, as well as state Department of Transportation workers.
