Manchester, NH – A single-vehicle crash on Interstate 293 south at Exit 2 seriously injured a man just before 5 p.m. Saturday.
According to New Hampshire State Police, 44-year-old Michael Meucci of Salem was driving a Volvo XC-90 when he was distracted by an unrestrained dog in the vehicle. Meucci lost control while exiting the F.E. Everett Turnpike, causing the SUV to roll over multiple times before landing on its roof.
Police confirmed that Meucci was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected through the sunroof. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. There is no update on his condition at this time. Authorities did not disclose whether the dog was injured.
Traffic on I-293 was limited to one lane for approximately 45 minutes as the scene was cleared. Emergency response included firefighters from Bedford and Manchester, as well as personnel from the New Hampshire Department of Transportation. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
