YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. — A head-on collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck resulted in one fatality on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 2:41 p.m. on a local roadway in Yazoo County. According to the Coroner's Office, DeVoan Luckett, 22, was riding the motorcycle when he collided with the pickup truck. Luckett was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was ejected from the motorcycle, subsequently becoming trapped under the pickup.
Authorities reported that the pickup truck caught fire following the collision. Luckett was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was able to exit the vehicle and sustain no reported injuries.
Emergency response teams were dispatched to the site, where they assisted with the investigation and cleared the roadway. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by local authorities.
