PEARL, Miss. — A Pearl police officer was seriously injured in a crash Tuesday evening while responding to a call for service, according to the Pearl Police Department.
The incident occurred around 6:41 p.m. on Highway 80 near Bierdeman Road. First responders were on the scene, and authorities warned motorists to expect delays and use caution in the area.
The injured officer was transported to a local hospital, but no additional information regarding their condition has been disclosed. In a statement, Pearl Police Chief Nick McLendon asked for prayers for the injured officer, their family, and others involved in the crash.
The cause of the collision is currently under investigation. Authorities indicated that more information will be released as it becomes available.
