Motorcyclist Killed in Crash Near Greenwood, Delaware
A 39-year-old motorcyclist from Dover died in a crash on Route 16 near Greenwood on August 29. Police were called to the scene just before 7:15 a.m. after reports of the incident.
According to the Delaware State Police, the motorcyclist was traveling west on Route 16 at a high speed when he attempted to pass two vehicles. As he re-entered his lane, he lost control of the motorcycle, skidded off the road, and collided with a utility pole. He was ejected from the bike and was found deceased at the scene.
Authorities closed Route 16 for approximately five hours to conduct an investigation. The identity of the motorcyclist is pending notification of family.
This incident underscores the importance of safe driving practices, especially during overtaking maneuvers.
