Lewes Woman Killed in Crash Involving Tractor Trailer

A 68-year-old Lewes woman was killed and three others injured in a vehicle collision on Aug. 19, according to Delaware State Police. The crash occurred around 1:55 p.m. at the intersection of Harts Road and John J. Williams Highway.

Authorities reported that Tracey Harden, a passenger in a Honda CRV, was taken to a nearby hospital but did not survive. The driver of the Honda, a 78-year-old man from Lewes, and two passengers—a 36-year-old Lewes woman and a 37-year-old woman from Jersey City, New Jersey—sustained injuries. The New Jersey woman is in critical condition, while the other two have non-life-threatening injuries.

The Honda CRV was traveling southbound and stopped at a stop sign before turning left onto John J. Williams Highway, colliding with a westbound Freightliner Cascadia tractor trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer, a 64-year-old man from Bowie, Maryland, declined medical treatment.
