Dies Following June Collision in Pearl City

PEARL CITY, HI — An 80-year-old pedestrian has died from injuries sustained in a vehicle collision on June 10, authorities confirmed.

At approximately 6:52 a.m. that day, a 68-year-old man driving north on Kaahumanu Street made a left turn onto Noelani Street, striking the woman as she was crossing the road within a marked crosswalk, according to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) Traffic Division.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel provided treatment at the scene and transported her to a local hospital in serious condition. She later succumbed to her injuries and was ; the Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office notified HPD of her death on Friday.

The driver remained at the scene and reported no injuries. HPD stated it is unclear if speed, drugs, or alcohol were contributing factors, and an investigation is ongoing.

This incident marks Oahu's 24th traffic fatality for the year, compared to 47 recorded in 2022.
