MARRERO, La. — The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Friday, April 11, 2026, just after noon.
Authorities reported that the collision involved a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Chevrolet Malibu at the intersection of 8th Street and Barataria Boulevard. Upon arrival, deputies found an elderly woman unresponsive in the Malibu, suffering from injuries related to the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The drivers of both vehicles and one additional passenger from the Malibu were transported to a local hospital, where they were listed in stable condition. According to deputies, initial investigations indicate that the Jeep was traveling southbound on Barataria Boulevard when the Malibu's driver attempted to cross the intersection, resulting in the crash.
Deputies noted no signs of impairment for any of the drivers, and toxicology results are pending. This remains an ongoing investigation.
