Eagle Mountain Lake Boat Crash Sends Three to Hospital
Two children and one adult were hospitalized Sunday evening following a boat crash on Eagle Mountain Lake, as reported by the Tarrant Regional Water District.
The collision occurred around 7 p.m. when a boat with five people struck a dock. Authorities confirmed that two children were transported to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth with serious injuries. An adult was taken to Harris Methodist Hospital Downtown. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed, and the incident remains under investigation.
The incident coincides with increased warnings from Texas Game Wardens and local fire departments regarding rising water-related fatalities statewide. Data from Texas Parks and Wildlife indicates there have been 59 water-related deaths this year, including 21 boating fatalities—marking a 75% increase in boating-related deaths compared to last year.
Officials stress that many tragedies can be attributed to a lack of preparation and poor decisions made on the water. Key safety recommendations include wearing life jackets, using engine cut-off switches, and never operating boats under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
With Labor Day approaching, authorities urge North Texans to remain vigilant and report any unsafe behavior through Operation Game Thief, which offers rewards for tips leading to convictions in wildlife, fishing, or boating law violations. People should always call 911 in emergencies.
