Injuries Reported After DUI Crash on I-85 in Dinwiddie

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. — A two-vehicle wreck occurred along Interstate 85 Saturday evening, leading to efforts by bystanders to assist a trapped family.

According to witnesses, the collision happened around 7 p.m. in the southbound lanes, involving a pickup truck and a sedan, both of which overturned. A woman traveling with her family witnessed the event as they were returning home to South Hill from Richmond. Her husband and two teenage sons helped roll the vehicle to free a baby and the family trapped inside, expressing concern that the might catch fire before first responders arrived.

Virginia State Police reported that both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. One driver has been charged with DUI.
