Halifax County, VA. – Two people were killed in a car crash at an intersection in Halifax County on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Virginia State Police, the fatal collision happened around 12:20 p.m. on Chatham Road near Leighwood Trail.
A 2006 Jeep Liberty was traveling east on Chatham Road when it drifted across the centerline and collided head-on with a 2002 Ford Explorer.
The Jeep caught fire after the collision.
The driver and the passenger of the Jeep died at the accident scene.
A one-month-old infant in the Jeep was airlifted to hospital along with the driver of the Explorer.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
