Injuries reported in crash involving VBPD SUV and truck

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A collision involving a Virginia Beach Police Department and a truck occurred Sunday at 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of North Birdneck Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard.

According to Virginia Beach police, the officer in the VBPD SUV was responding to an incident when the crash took place. The driver of the truck sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital. The officer in the police vehicle suffered minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

The Virginia Beach Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit is currently investigating the crash. No further details regarding potential lane closures or vehicle tows have been reported.
