Holland Public Safety Probes Fatal Crash at US-31 Intersection.

HOLLAND, Mich. — A died following a collision with a vehicle early Thursday on US-31 at 24th Street.

Authorities received reports of the incident around 1:10 a.m. Responding officers found a 62-year-old man from Holland unresponsive with serious injuries.

Preliminary investigations indicate the man was crossing 24th Street on the east side while the vehicle, traveling northbound on US-31, had a green light. Witnesses reported the vehicle struck the as it entered the intersection.

The victim was transported to Holland Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity has not been released pending notification of family.

The 28-year-old driver was unharmed in the crash. The Holland Department of Public Safety indicated that alcohol may be a contributing factor in the incident.

An investigation is ongoing, with authorities focusing on gathering additional witness statements and traffic evidence.
