Alcohol Possibly Contributed to Fatal Solon Township Crash.

SOLON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A head-on crash involving two vehicles occurred early Saturday morning, resulting in one fatality and several injuries.

Authorities responded to the incident at approximately 12:30 a.m. near Algoma Avenue NE, south of 15 Mile Road.

Investigators indicate a 58-year-old man was driving south in the wrong lane when his collided head-on with a pickup truck operated by a 19-year-old male. The older driver was trapped in his vehicle and required assistance from emergency responders.

He was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he was . The 19-year-old driver and his five passengers sustained injuries, ranging from minor to severe, and were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Kent County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash and has noted that alcohol may be a contributing factor. No other details regarding lane closures or tow information are currently available.
