FOND DU LAC, Wisc. (WLUK) — A high-speed police chase ended dramatically in Fond du Lac County on [insert date] when a suspect's vehicle crashed into a field after launching over a roadway.

Authorities initiated the pursuit after conducting a traffic stop and discovering an active felony warrant for the driver. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office joined the chase, which covered approximately 4.5 miles across local roads and the interstate.

According to law enforcement, the driver at one point reversed direction off an exit ramp before navigating through nearby streets and parking lots. The chase concluded when he exited the interstate at high speed, lost control, drove into a ditch, and launched airborne over a road, narrowly missing another vehicle below.

After landing, the vehicle crashed into a field. The driver, identified as 44-year-old Dewayne Stokes of Milwaukee, and a passenger attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended shortly after. Stokes sustained minor injuries and was treated on-site before being taken into custody.

Authorities confirmed that Stokes, already on bond for a separate felony case involving a stolen vehicle, now faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding police, recklessly endangering safety, bail jumping, resisting arrest, firearm possession by a felon, and marijuana possession.

No other injuries were reported, and further investigation is ongoing.
