Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Early Morning Collision Near Kalispell.

MISSOULA, Mont. — A 20-year-old Helena man was killed early Saturday morning after being struck by a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 2 near Kalispell, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:53 a.m. on June 13 near mile marker 117 in Flathead County. An 18-year-old woman from Eureka was driving a F-150 westbound when she activated her high beams and encountered a in the roadway. Authorities reported that there are no shoulders along that section of the highway.

The crash report indicates the truck struck the pedestrian with the front driver's side bumper, causing the pedestrian to roll into oncoming traffic. He was at the scene.

Three passengers in the truck, as well as the driver, were not injured. Investigators noted the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing, which may have contributed to his visibility issues at the time of the accident.

The Montana Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
