PROVIDENCE, RI — A Rhode Island man faces felony charges after allegedly throwing a trash can at a motorcycle during a street festival on June 6.
Robert Maggiacomo, 35, of Cumberland, was charged following the incident in Federal Hill that disrupted the Feast of St. Joseph festival. Authorities reported the motorcycle rider, 19-year-old Michael Carnevale of Johnston, lost control and crashed as a result.
According to Providence Police, Carnevale was also charged with reckless driving and cited for several motor vehicle violations.
“This investigation revealed actions that allegedly placed a motorcyclist and numerous members of the public at serious risk of harm,” said Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez. “Our department is committed to holding individuals accountable when their actions put others at risk.”
Emergency responders provided medical aid at the scene, but there were no fatalities reported. An investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not disclosed any further details on lane closures or towing activities related to the crash.
