GERMANTOWN, Md. (WJLA) — A two-vehicle crash in Germantown early Tuesday morning left one man dead and seven children injured.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded to the incident at the intersection of Clopper Road and Great Seneca Highway around 5:30 a.m. Emergency officials reported that multiple people were trapped inside the overturned vehicles, one of which caught fire.
Authorities confirmed that the crash involved a blue vehicle carrying one adult male, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and a white vehicle with seven juveniles, aged 12 to 15. The children were transported to local hospitals, with some reported in critical condition.
Investigators indicated there were no licensed drivers among the juveniles in the white vehicle. Montgomery County Police spokeswoman Shiera Goff emphasized that all passengers were underage to drive.
As of Tuesday morning, the intersection remains closed to traffic, and road closures are expected to last several hours as investigators work to reconstruct the scene. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
