CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) — A multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon caused one vehicle to collide with a fuel pump at a gas station, injuring two people.
At approximately 12:53 p.m. on December 19, 2023, the Caldwell Fire Department responded to an accident near North Illinois Avenue and Marble Front Road. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a vehicle had veered off the roadway, striking a gas pump and becoming lodged between the pump and another parked vehicle.
Authorities reported the incident began when the at-fault driver rear-ended another vehicle, possibly due to a mechanical failure, leading to the subsequent crash into the gas station. Fuel leakage prompted the evacuation of the nearby parking lot as a safety measure.
Two individuals suffered minor injuries but were able to exit their vehicles safely and were evaluated by emergency medical personnel. Firefighters worked to secure the scene and addressed the fuel hazard to ensure safety for customers and nearby businesses.
The investigation has been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further review.
