Marblehead Crash Claims Life of 13-Year-Old Girl

A 13-year-old girl, Savannah Gatchell, was killed early Tuesday morning in a crash on Atlantic Avenue in Marblehead. The incident occurred shortly before 3 a.m. and resulted in the closure of traffic on Atlantic Avenue.

According to authorities, the vehicle, driven by a 16-year-old boy, sustained extensive damage. Gatchell suffered life-threatening injuries and was at the scene. The driver was treated for injuries at a local hospital and subsequently charged with operating under the influence.

The Marblehead Public Schools Superintendent, John Robidoux, expressed condolences, labeling the loss as “devastating.” Grief counselors will be available at Veterans Middle School and Marblehead High School to support students and families during this time.

Marblehead Police Chief Dennis King stated, “We share our deepest condolences with the victim's family, loved ones, and anyone touched by this great loss.”
