Driver killed in three-car crash in Marshfield, injuries reported.

MARSHFIELD, Mass. — A three- crash on Careswell Street Monday evening resulted in the death of 69-year-old Irene F. McPherson of Marshfield. According to Police Chief Philip Tavares, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when McPherson, driving a Hyundai eastbound, crossed into the westbound lane near Colby Hewitt Lane. She collided with an oncoming Camaro before crashing head-on into a Kia.

The drivers of the other vehicles, a woman from Pembroke and another from Marshfield, sustained minor injuries and were treated at South Shore Hospital, authorities said.

Initially, three fire engines and two ambulances were dispatched to the scene. Acting Fire Chief William Hocking reported that a third ambulance was requested upon arrival. Firefighters utilized hydraulic rescue tools to extricate one of the women from her car.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
