A 49-year-old Brunswick woman died Tuesday night after failing to stop at a stop sign.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of Main Street and River Road. Authorities said the woman was driving a 2008 Honda Civic when she collided with a 2020 Ford F-150 traveling westbound. The driver of the Ford, a 35-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene.
Emergency responders from the Brunswick Fire Department and local police were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters managed the vehicle fire that erupted following the collision, while police established a perimeter for investigation.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the roadway.
Authorities have closed Main Street in both directions while the investigation is ongoing. Police are asking witnesses to come forward with any additional information related to the crash.
