Augusta Motorcyclist Dies in Crash on Bobby Jones Expressway
An Augusta motorcyclist, Daniel Paul Doyle, 60, died late Tuesday in a crash on the Bobby Jones Expressway.
Doyle was pronounced dead at midnight Wednesday near mile marker 11. His identity was confirmed through fingerprints, according to Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen.
First responders found Doyle in the grassy median on the eastbound side of the expressway around 11 p.m., as reported by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office. In response to the incident, officers closed both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Bobby Jones from Doug Barnard Parkway to Laney Walker Boulevard, which remained shut down as of 3 a.m.
Authorities believe Doyle lost control while traveling westbound on Bobby Jones. The investigation is ongoing, with further details pending.
