KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A hit-and-run incident left a 52-year-old man dead Wednesday night at approximately 8:45 p.m. near Axtell Street and South Westnedge Avenue.
First responders discovered the victim in the roadway with severe injuries, and EMS personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The victim's identity is pending notification of family, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.
Witnesses reported two vehicles traveling at high speeds in the area during the incident. Authorities utilized FUSUS technology to locate the suspect vehicle in Galesburg, although the driver remains unidentified. South Westnedge Avenue was closed for several hours while investigators collected evidence but has since reopened.
