WAGENER — A 21-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon in a crash that sent two vehicles into a pond on Wagener Road.
The incident occurred around 1:03 p.m. near Flowing Wells Road, according to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables. A 2013 Chevrolet Silverado collided with a 1991 GMC Sonoma as the latter was making a left turn, resulting in both vehicles entering the water.
Jacob Langley, the driver of the GMC, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:40 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for next week in Newberry.
Authorities reported that the driver and passenger in the Silverado sustained no serious injuries. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner's Office are handling the investigation.
