Minor Injuries Reported in Crash Involving Delaware State Police Vehicle on Route 1

LEWES, DE – A crash on Route 1 involving a Delaware State Police (DSP) vehicle occurred on June 4 at 2:20 p.m., resulting in minor injuries.

Authorities said a fully-marked DSP Tahoe was traveling southbound in the Route 1 lane with its emergency lights activated. The Tahoe was approaching a red light at the intersection of Route 1 and Postal Lane when a 64-year-old man from Lewes, driving a Subaru Outback, proceeded eastbound on Postal Lane through a green light.

According to police, as the Tahoe entered the intersection, it struck the driver's side of the Subaru. The Subaru driver sustained a minor injury but refused medical transport.

The trooper involved in the incident was taken for evaluation at a nearby walk-in clinic for minor injuries.

No significant lane closures were reported, and both vehicles were towed from the scene. The crash remains under investigation by authorities.
