BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — A 22-year-old man was arrested Wednesday and charged with vehicle homicide in connection with a fatal crash on Interstate 95 eight months ago.

Guy Augustin was booked at the Palm Beach County Jail following the incident that occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. on October 8, 2025. The collision involved Augustin driving a 2013 535i and a Camry operated by 92-year-old Martha Gutierrez.

The crash took place on southbound I-95, just south of the Gateway Boulevard exit, when Augustin changed lanes improperly and struck Gutierrez's vehicle from behind.

The impact caused Gutierrez's to collide with a concrete barrier wall, while Augustin's veered off the roadway into the grass.

Emergency responders transported Gutierrez to Delray Medical Center, where she was at 11:22 p.m.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Augustin admitted to traveling at speeds between 95 and 100 mph in a designated 65 mph zone and following two motorcycles too closely prior to the crash.

A witness reported observing Augustin weaving through traffic at high speeds, estimating his speed at around 80 mph. Additionally, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) investigators retrieved data from the BMW's Event Data Recorder, indicating speeds of 123 mph before the crash.

Augustin, a West Palm Beach resident, remains in custody with a bond set at $100,000.
