HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — A Webster motorcyclist, 42, died in a crash on U.S. Highway 301 on September 13.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, a Kia Sorento, driven by a 66-year-old man from Dade City, was traveling northbound on U.S. 301 around 7:04 p.m. A Jeep Cherokee, operated by a 44-year-old woman from Ridge Manor, was stopped behind the Sorento in a left turn lane leading to Whispering Oaks Boulevard.
The motorcyclist was riding a Harley Davidson southbound on U.S. 301 when the Sorento turned left into his path, the FHP stated. The motorcyclist collided with the Sorento, was ejected, and struck the Jeep.
Emergency responders pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Authorities reported no injuries for the drivers of the Sorento and the Jeep, and no lane closures were necessary. The FHP continues its investigation into the crash.
