DETROIT (WKRC) — Motor Co. is recalling nearly 420,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a seat belt defect.

The recall includes 419,967 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models from 2018 to 2022. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue involves a malfunctioning seat belt pretensioner, which may inadvertently lock the belt, preventing it from retracting or extending properly.

This malfunction could compromise the effectiveness of the seat belt, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

The recall was reported on Wednesday, following disclosures from the NHTSA. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified directly by Ford. Further details regarding repair procedures have not yet been provided.
