DETROIT (WKRC) — Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 420,000 vehicles due to a seat belt defect, effective immediately.
The recall impacts 419,967 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models from 2018 to 2022. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue involves the seat belt pretensioner in the driver or front passenger seat, which may inadvertently lock the seat belt, preventing it from retracting or extending properly.
Authorities stated this malfunction could result in the seat belt not safely restraining occupants during a crash, thereby increasing the risk of injury.
Affected owners will be notified by Ford regarding the recall. Additional information concerning repair procedures has not yet been disclosed.
