Fatal Collision on Farrington Highway Claims Life of 28-Year-Old Motorist
KAPOLEI, HI — A high-speed collision on Farrington Highway late Monday night resulted in the death of a 28-year-old man.
At approximately 11:55 p.m., the eastbound driver lost control of his vehicle while speeding on Farrington Highway, east of Laaloa Street. According to the Honolulu Police Department's Traffic Division, his car rear-ended a vehicle driven by a 60-year-old man.
The collision forced the speeding vehicle into a concrete barrier, causing it to become airborne over the median and roll multiple times. The driver was ejected from the car and suffered fatal injuries; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators confirmed that he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The 60-year-old driver remained at the scene and reported no injuries.
Authorities indicated that speed was a contributing factor, but the involvement of drugs or alcohol remains under investigation.
This incident marks the 16th traffic fatality on Oahu this year, a decline from 30 fatalities reported during the same period in 2025.
