17-Year-Old Killed in Fatal I-95 Crash Sunday Night

RICHMOND, Va. — A 17-year-old girl was killed Sunday night after stepping onto I-95 following a crash, Virginia State Police reported.

The incident occurred before 8:45 p.m. when a rear-ended a Honda in the left lane. The driver of the Toyota pulled over to the shoulder, while the Honda stopped partially in the left lane. Authorities said the girl, a passenger in the Honda, exited the vehicle, likely to assess the damage.

A driver in the left lane struck her, subsequently veering off the road and hitting a guardrail. The girl, from Crewe, Virginia, died at the scene. Family members, who were in one of the involved vehicles, were notified by police on-site.

No additional injuries have been reported. The crash remains under investigation by law enforcement agencies.
