Woman Killed in Car Crash in Avon
AVON, MA—A woman died Thursday morning around 10:00 a.m. after a car crash on Route 28 near the Avon-Brockton line.
According to authorities, the incident involved a single vehicle, a black Ford Focus, which struck a utility pole. The driver, a woman whose age has not been confirmed, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that there was significant smoke coming from the vehicle, prompting nearby residents to call emergency services. First responders arrived promptly, yet the woman could not be saved.
The roadway was temporarily closed but has since reopened to one lane. Reconstruction crews remain on-site, and the investigation into the accident is ongoing.
