MINERAL WELLS, W.Va. (WCHS) — A motorcycle crash in Wood County resulted in serious injuries on Monday afternoon, prompting an investigation, deputies confirmed.
The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the 5500 block of Elizabeth Pike. According to the Wood County Sheriff's Office, a pickup truck was stopped in the southbound lane awaiting a turn into a private driveway when a motorcycle lost control while navigating a curve.
Authorities reported that both the motorcycle operator and a passenger were ejected as the motorcycle slid, subsequently damaging a nearby pickup truck and two SUVs.
Officials stated that the passenger was struck by another vehicle. The passenger was airlifted to Charleston Area Medical Center, while the motorcycle operator was transported to Camden Clark Medical Center for treatment.
Emergency response included personnel from the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department and ambulances from Camden Clark. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
