JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Cole County prosecutors have charged Nathan Spencer, 34, following a incident on Highway 50/63.

Authorities said Spencer was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident – Property Damage Exceeding $1,000, a felony, and misdemeanor counts of Operating a Motor Vehicle in a Careless and Imprudent Manner and Operating a Vehicle on Highway Without a Valid License.

According to court documents, on April 28, 2026, Spencer was and erratically changing lanes when he rear-ended another vehicle. This collision caused the vehicle to crash into a guardrail and subsequently cross into the median.

Witnesses reported that Spencer fled the scene on foot. Jefferson City Police located him three days later in the 300 block of Capital View Drive, hidden along a wooded area. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
