CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Ford has issued a recall for nearly 1.4 million F-150 trucks due to a potential crash risk, affecting specific model years.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the recall on April 27, 2026, for 1,392,935 Ford F-150 trucks from 2015, 2016, and 2017. The issue involves a transmission problem that may cause the vehicle to unexpectedly downshift into second gear, attributed to a “loss of signal” between the transmission range sensor and the powertrain control module.
Ford advises affected owners to visit licensed dealers for a complimentary update to the control module software. Interim notification letters to owners are set to be mailed on April 27, 2026. Additional details regarding the final remedy will be provided in later communications, expected in July 2026.
